Serial Killer H.H. Holmes & The White City

Currently reading 'The Devil in the White City' by Erik Larson and the topic is very interesting how the whole worlds fair was planned behind the scenes of some of the countries greatest architects while nearby a gruesome serial killer was setting up his torture hotel and plans to use the worlds fair as a hunting ground for his victims.

    The Salem Witch Trials

I think this would be a very interesting topic for you to cover because it's really a story of mass hysteria fueled by a towns religion. And of course you'll run into politics and some teenage gossips who really know how to stir a pot. I have been obsessed with the trials since high school and would love to hear your take on it.

The tragic death of Kurt Cobain

Its widely controversial on if it was homicide or suicide. A lot of stuff that point both ways, crazy circumstantial evidance, lots of suspicious behaviors. It is a bit hard to research as there's so much speculation but its such a fascinating and mind boggling frustrating situation leading to the loss of such a sad and prominent person in the music world.

    Jeffrey Estein

I grew up in a town where the New York City elite would spend lavish weekends on their horse farm estates. My family wasn't in that demographic and fell more in with the fringe crowd of rail commuters and stable managers. But we became acquainted with a family whose name would emerge in the headlines alongside Epstein. I've been avoiding this topic because of how closely it hits to home, but I think it's important, especially with the current US administration and the need more and more to hold people in power (no matter their political affiliation) accountable as they seem to be getting away with so much corruption and crime. I've been too scared to watch any of the documentaries, but you all have a way of making heavy topics more approachable.

Ruth Handler, from Barbie to fake boobs!

First and foremost, she created Barbie! But she also had a very fascinating life! For example, in her later years she created the first breast prosthetic for women who had mastectomys due to breast cancer!! This was after fighting cancer herself as she struggled to find a breast prosthetic that already existed!! She also had to resign from Mattel due to fraud 😂. All around a pretty iconic woman! She was an absolute force to be reckoned with!! I think her entire life story if one worth learning!

I saw you had already done my last suggestion! So here's another: Casey Anthony.

It's a twisting tale of a completely shocking story in which a pathological mother heartlessly kills her daughter and poorly covers it up with a whole web of lies.

    SoftBank and the Visionfund

I have learned recently that Softbank's Visionfund (which uses money from Son's investments in Alibaba and money from Saudi Arabia) has literally touched just about every tech company and corner of 'tech' start ups, including Theranos, WeWork, Nvidia (where my husband works), Sprint (China), Uber, dozens of rideshare companies in India, just to make a few. Son's dream was to be the largest wealthiest investor globally and was very philosophical about it. He's also a stand out among Japanese businessmen in terms of how forward he is. He managed to overcome loosing like 90% of his net value with the dot com bust, then rebuild, then loose again, then rebuild. It's seriously fascinating!

    Anthrax Island

During the Second World War, the Ministry of Defence tested deadly anthrax bombs on a remote island in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The general public were none the wiser, until a mysterious bucket appeared at Porton Down, containing anthrax laden soil with the words "The first delivery has been made- and where else to send the seeds of death than to the place from whence they came?" It's a fascinating, if not well known, piece of British military history, and the cover up surrounding it is equal parts horrifying and interesting.

    The Wiggles!

The Wiggles have been around for ever, and it's interesting how the band has retained brand control, merchandise control, etc. Also, they have had to update themselves over the years with changing band members and adding in Emma, the female yellow Wiggle (who has a fling and was engaged to Lauchy, the Purple Wiggle!) Emma started loosing her hair so she started wearing her now signature red wig. Fast forward, the group has once again refreshed by adding double the members (one is a father/daughter duo!) There's a new USA/Canada tour next summer (I have tickets for our family!) AND there's an article out about how a piece of merch (Emma's bow) has been sold without warning consumers about batteries and now they have to have a special episode about it! From rotating members and inner fighting, to affairs and climbing the charts, the Wiggles history is definitely an interesting one! Check out the Wikipedia.

    The villisca axe murder house

There's many conspiracy's over how it happened, and probably the only story that's stuck with me and I don't really know why. The killer would have had to be in the house while they were there the night before. I hate how someone else was at their home and they had no idea.

    Giulia Tofana

1600s Italy, Giulia Tofana was believed to be selling a poison disguised as cosmetics to women desperate to get out of bad marriages. It worked slowly enough to look natural and a lot of husbands died before anyone clocked what was going on. (Iconic behaviour).

    Herbert Baumeister

Herbert Richard Baumeister was a German-American businessman and serial killer who came under suspicion of murdering over a dozen men in the early-to-mid 1990s, most of whom were last seen at gay bars in central Indiana. Police ultimately found the remains of eleven men, eight identified, on Baumeister's property. And maybe he had an accomplices named Mark Goodyear…
